Research at Peninsula Health
At Peninsula Health, we are committed to improving healthcare through high-quality research. Our research helps us discover new treatments, improve patient care, and find better ways to prevent and manage diseases.
We conduct both clinical trials (which test new medications and treatments) and other types of research (such as surveys and interviews to understand patient experiences).
Why is Research Important?
Research leads to new discoveries that help us:
- Find treatments that work better
- Improve patient safety
- Enhance healthcare services
- Discover new ways to prevent and manage illnesses.
By participating in research, you can help improve treatments for yourself or others in the future.
How Can You Participate?
You may be invited to take part in a research project. This could include:
- Completing a survey – Sharing your experiences to help improve healthcare
- Participating in an interview – Talking with a researcher about your health experiences
- Trying a new medication – Being part of a clinical trial to test a new drug
- Trying a new treatment – helping assess a new therapy or medical approach.
If you are eligible for a research project, a member of our team will explain everything to you. You may also need to sign a consent form before taking part.
Things to Remember
- Participation is your choice – You can join or leave a study at any time without affecting your regular care
- Your information is private – Your personal details will be kept confidential and used only for research
- Research is reviewed for safety – A Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) ensures all studies are ethical and safe.
Receiving Study Results
If you take part in a research study, you can ask for a copy of the study results or be informed where you can access them once the project is complete.
